Job Title: Teller (Forex Bureau)
Location: Nairobi

Job Overview:
As a Teller you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service and conducting accurate and efficient foreign currency exchange transactions. We are seeking candidates who have previous experience working in a bank and possess strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  1. Greet and assist customers in a professional and friendly manner.
  2. Provide information and guidance on foreign exchange rates, services, and products.
  3. Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and escalate complex issues as necessary.
  4. Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering a positive customer experience.

Cash Handling and Transactions:

  1. Accurately process foreign currency exchange transactions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  2. Count, verify, and reconcile cash balances at the beginning and end of each shift.
  3. Maintain an accurate cash drawer and handle cash, checks, and other financial instruments with precision.
  4. Adhere to compliance and security measures to minimize the risk of fraud or financial losses.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  1. Maintain proper documentation of all transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  2. Prepare reports, including daily cash summaries and transaction records, for management review.
  3. Assist in monitoring and reporting suspicious transactions or activities in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Product Knowledge and Sales:

  1. Stay updated on currency exchange rates, economic trends, and regulatory changes.
  2. Promote and cross-sell additional services, such as money transfers or prepaid travel cards, to customers.
  3. Provide accurate information on service charges, fees, and commissions associated with different transactions.

Operational Support:

  1. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth branch operations and efficient customer service delivery.
  2. Assist with various administrative tasks, such as maintaining adequate stock of currencies and office supplies.
  3. Adhere to internal policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines, ensuring compliance at all times.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Degree/diploma in relevant field.
  2. Previous experience as a teller or cashier in a bank or financial institution is strongly preferred.
  3. Proficiency in handling cash transactions and operating cash registers.
  4. Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
  5. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  7. Familiarity with foreign exchange regulations and compliance requirements is a plus.
  8. Basic computer skills and the ability to use financial software or systems effectively.
