Job Description

The Internal Audit function is responsible functionally to the Board Audit and Risk Committee and administratively to the National Executive Commissioner/CEO.

 

Responsibilities

  • Formulating and coordinating the implementation of internal audit policies and strategies;
  • Reviewing the governance mechanism for transparency and accountability with regard to finance and assets of the Association.
  • Providing secretarial services to the Board Audit and Risk Committee
  • Developing audit programmes and reviewing audit working papers to ensure that audit opinions and recommendations are fully supported by complete and available audit evidence.
  • Participating in the identification of possible risks in the Association’s operations, ensure monitoring and evaluation of the identified risks, recommends the appropriate control measures, and follow-up on implementation;
  • Preparation and implementation of the annual audit plan, including any special tasks or projects requested by management and the Audit Committee;
  • Preparing report on the accuracy of Financial Statements for Board Audit and Risk Committee consideration;
  • Developing and updating appropriate risk management and internal control framework;
  • Identifying areas that offer opportunities for improvement and make appropriate recommendations;
  • Carrying out special audits and investigations (ad-hoc) as may be required from time to time;
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of the financial and non-financial performance management systemUse gender-neutral language.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • At least Five (5) years working experience, two (2) of which must have been at a Supervisory level in Internal Audit;
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option); Business Administration (Accounting option) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • CPA (K) of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) finalist
  • Must be a member with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK);
  • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution
  • Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
