Role

Lead the development and implementation of progressive sourcing strategies that deliver cost efficiencies, supply assurance and quality. 

Engage in procurement for government tenders in Africa.

Responsibilities

• Will play an active role in the supply of strategic commodities to government entities and other customers in African markets
• Shall carry out procurement activities in accordance with the best international standards and rules to maximize value
• Directly negotiate with international companies for sourcing of products and with government entities for tenders
• Responsible for the sourcing, procurement and supplier management
• Establish, negotiate and maintain effective partnerships and contracts between company and vendor partners
• Responsible for the total quality, continuous improvement, costs, service and value performance of supply provided by vendors
• Develop and maintain ongoing market insight and knowledge on current and/ or all changes associated with the relevant products, vendors, suppliers market conditions, economic factors, security issues, tax and pricing, internationally
• Develop and manage annual budgets and ensure cost performance goals are met
• Identify and implement lower cost alternatives while meeting quality and specification requirements
• Maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs and overseeing the purchasing activities

Qualifications & Experience

• Undergraduate degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Engineering, Finance and/or Business required; an MS or MBA or CIP qualification is preferred
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in procurement of products and should have partnering experience with international companies in African markets
• Should have experience of participating in government tenders
• Vendor management and negotiations skills
• Strong organizational skills and Confident decision making ability
• Excellent Communication, Interpersonal & analytical Skills
• Proactive approach and Problem Solving Skills
• Flexible and should be able to take initiatives
• Ability to work in multinational environment
