RECRUITMENT OF PART-TIME TVET TRAINERS

AMREF INTERNATIONAL TRAINING CENTER (AITC)

Amref International Training Center (AITC) was established by Amref International University in 2021 and is fully accredited by the Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), Ministry of Education to provide training in Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in various courses. Previously the Amref International Training Centre (AITC) has run academic programmes in various health-related fields which have shaped Public and Community Health training and nurtured health leaders and practitioners in Africa for over 40 years.

AITC is currently running nine (9) programmes under the following departments:

1. Community Health

2. Health Systems Development

3. Health Psychology

4. Nursing & Midwifery Sciences

We are seeking qualified trainers to train certificate and diploma programmes in:

7. Environmental Sciences

Applications are invited from qualified trainers in the following fields Bachelors/Diploma in Community Health, Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Project Management, Social Work & Community

Development, Nutrition, Health Records, Environmental Sciences, Nursing, Medical Laboratory, Education (Mathematics, Business, Information Technology, and Entrepreneurship).

Roles & responsibilities:

The trainers will report to the Heads of the respective departments and will be responsible to:

  1. Instruct trainees in the specific course(s)/units in adherence to the respective curriculum and occupational standards;
  2. Plan, conduct and mark practicals in the course units assigned;
  3. Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and give lecture notes;
  4. Prepare internal exams and conduct validation of the exams;
  5. Carry out continuous assessment;
  6. Supervise and assess trainee(s) in the course area;
  7. Prepare trainees for external exams by providing practical technical skills as required for effective competency acquisition;
  8. Carry out examination and competence-based assessment.

Qualifications, Experience and Abilities

  1. Must be a holder of a Degree/Diploma in the relevant technical area from a recognized institution;
  2. Holder of a Certificate in Pedagogy (Teaching Strategies);
  3. Holders of Bachelors/Diploma in Commerce, IT, Communication, Mathematics may be considered to teach basic units across all the programmes.
  4. Must a good knowledge and expertise in theory and practical relevant to the area of training;
  5. Demonstrate relevant teaching experience of at least one (1) year;
  6. Registered by Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) as a Trainer;
  7. Knowledge of KNEC/CDACC examination procedures.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  9. Demonstrate high level of integrity
